The mission of the Department is to provide high quality and effective education in the field of electrical engineering and to facilitate the development of well rounded, educative, productive and ethical individuals who are well versed in technology.

PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

The Electrical and Electronics Engineering programme of Vedavyasa Institute of Technology
will prepare its graduates to

  • Apply their technical knowledge and expertise to provide solution to Electrical and Electronics Engineering problems in various fields such as Industries, govt. organisations etc.
  • Enhance their knowledge through continuous learning to contribute their best to increase the quality of life for human kind
  • Encourage students in research field and develop their creative aspects to bring out excellent projects in the field of Electrical and Electronics engineering

PROGRAMME SPECIFIC OUTCOMES

On completion of B.Tech (Electrical and Electronics Engineering) degree the graduates will be able to

  • Implement the knowledge acquired through the courses such as mathematics, physics, chemistry in general and all electrical and electronics engineering related courses in solving problems in industrial level
  • Implement the advanced electrical technologies in developing new projects to improve the standard of living

PROGRAMME OUTCOMES

  • Develop the electrical and electronic components and hardwares that meets the requirements of humankind

  • Study and analyze different complex circuits in Electrical Engineering and provide a feasible solutions using different simulation techniques.

Electrical Engineering is one of the core areas of Engineering. So it is always evergreen in terms of Scope and Job Prospects. It deals with the study and application of Electrical Systems for use in these different environments and equips you with the knowledge of transmission and generation of electrical power, electrical circuit design, electronics, instrumentation, control systems, understanding electrical and electronic networks etc. The course also covers the study of electronic devices and circuits involved in measurement, instrumentation, control and protection of electrical equipments and conversion systems. The concept of computer and recent applications of computer based systems in design, analysis and efficient operation of power systems, maintaining quality and security , also included in the course.

Since inception, the department has been producing world class professionals with very high moral and ethical values. The state – of - the - art infrastructure and lab facilities ensure good exposure and hands - on experience for students during the learning process. The students have been employed in top core and I.T companies and a very good number of students go for higher studies in reputable universities in India and abroad. The faculty of the department has been involved in several research projects in cutting - edge technologies and publications in many international journals and conferences.

B.Tech EEE, last University exam result publish 78.26% for S7 December 2012 exam. The primary objective of the department is to offer value added educational experience through quality instruction that prepares graduates for a range of career opportunities in today`s world.

Laboratories EEE

ELECTRICAL MACHINES LAB

Electrical Machines Laboratory is intended for students of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Electronics and instrumentation Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering branches, for conducting various experiments in electrical machines. The laboratory is equipped with over twenty experimental setup with branded machines which includes DC Machines, Transformers, Alternators, Induction Machines (with V/f controller, pole changing, and eddy current loading), Energy Efficient Induction Motor, Synchronous Motor, Synchronizing Panel etc. All machines are set up in the laboratory with the facility of loading up to 125% of full load. The lab facilities are sufficient to conduct experiments as per the syllabus and beyond the syllabus. The lab gives the students sufficient practical knowledge and industrial applications of electrical machines.

This lab is intended to conduct the experiments in Electrical Measurements Lab for Third semester Electrical students. Most modern and accurate Testing and measuring instruments are set up in the lab.

The Power Electronics Laboratory is intended for students of Electrical & Electronics Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering branches for conducting various experiments using power electronic devices. The lab is equipped with power electronics training kits, chopper & inverter control units, thyristors controllers, Drive Control using DSP controllers, d.c. machine drives, function generators, signal generators, oscilloscopes, powerscopes and multimeters.

PRODUCT DESIGN LAB

The EEE computer lab is equipped with 60 modern computer systems. High speed Intel processors with 2GB RAM are used in all the machines. Students utilize the lab for performing simulations of their mini-project as well as main-project circuits in addition to the simulation lab experiments. The computers are installed with simulation/analysis softwares like MATLAB, PSIM, AutoCAD Electrical & LabView. For an uninterrupted operation, the power supply of the lab is backedup by UPS and generators.

A model room is set up with a large number of models. Models have been collected from KSEB, Intrans Ernakulam, KEL Mamala and from some other agencies.

Models were received from abroad through some of the students. Suppliers of Electrical items to the college have donated some of the models. Instructor K. K. Balakrishnan brought many models which have been collected by him from many agencies from Kerala and abroad. He also made many working models during his spare time.
